Ironbridge is a small town in Shropshire but there are a lot of eateries ranging from pubs to cafes to fish and chip shops, if your only there for a short visit its gonna be a hard decision where to go.
So I have made the choice easy for you, the best place by far is the White Hart. Omg the main meals were amazing, the desserts were lip-smackingly good and the ale was pretty tasty too.
The pub is on the main road in the Ironbridge town with great views of the river and the bridge. You can sit outside on a nice sunny day and watch the world go by.
It looks like any pub from the outside, but when you enter the decor on the pub side is warm and cosy nice to enjoy a pint of their delicious ales I’m not even an ale drinker but had a good try of them.
We had visited the pub the day before this meal after a long walk we were so thirsty and tried some of the ales. We played a tasting game between us and the 3 ales to decide which one was the best, the Razor Back won.
The restaurant side had a brighter atmosphere to enjoy some of the fantastic menu options. The menu is changed monthly and its seasonal ingredients.
The staff are friendly. Our server Jodie was efficient bubbly and provided excellent service. The service was quick but I didn’t feel rushed and it was a truly enjoyable experience. Little touches made the meal more enjoyable. There were fresh carnations on the table, which are my mum’s favourite, a lovely lit candle if you want to do some romancing.
A choice of Homemade soda bread or handmade brown roll which were amazing, so fresh it was testing not to have more, but I needed to save room for pudding. One of the best things is you get a bottle of cold water on your table this doesn’t happen so much in UK restaurants it seems to be more of a European thing.
The restaurant bar and toilets are so clean which is always an important factor for me, there is a step to get into the ladies and I’m afraid I didn’t notice if there was a disabled toilet.
There were paintings on the wall in the restaurant that could also be purchased. It didn’t feel crowded even though most of the tables in the restaurant were occupied by the time we had finished our meal, so I would advise making a reservation. It seemed to be popular with locals as well as tourists which is always a good sign. It’s not cheap but it’s not budget food every ingredient was so fresh and tasty that it’s worth every penny charged. The portions are not huge but not tiddly either they were just right.
I decided to go for something totally different and something I had never tried before so I had tandoori sea trout, it was the best thing I have ever tasted in fact writing this a few days later is making my mouth water and I really want to eat it again. My mum had the haunch and faggot of wild boar this too was delicious; the meat was so tender.
My mum used to work in a well-known faggot factory and I hated the smell but these were so tasty. It came with turnips and she’s always said she doesn’t like them but she even ate that so it must have been good.
My photos don’t do it justice as you can’t smell a photo can you? Luckily I still had a bit of room for dessert and mine was absolutely scrumptious, I had the chocolate brownie, it was so rich but so good. My mum went for the treacle tart with raspberry ripple ice cream and it was heavenly.
There is a good choice of cheeses for the cheese board and I like the fact that you can choose which cheeses you want. We had a bottle of House Rose which really complemented the meal.
Quote from mum : “mmmmm mmmmm mmmmm”
I would definitely return here if I was in Ironbridge again and highly recommend you do too!! Check out some other reviews on TripAdvisor.
This was my first hosted meal and the manager came and introduced himself I asked any questions I had he also checked up during the meal and at the end to make sure everything was OK a really good host. However all views are my own and have not been influenced in any way.
Don’t forget to pin for future reference
