Arriving at the Mercure Bangkok Asoke Residence
On arrival it looks more like a office block and taxi driver couldn’t find it even though I had the address, luckily a security guard poked his head around the corner and pointed it out. Check in was easy and quick and the reception staff were very welcoming.
My Room at the Mercure Asoke Residence in Bangkok
The room was really impressive, it was huge!. It had a kitchen area with fridge, hot plate, microwave and utensils so you could make basic meals.
A dinning area, a living area with TV. A large airy bedroom with king size comfy bed and two wardrobes. The bathroom is plain but did the job and there was an extra toilet in the entrance way.
What is good is there was a washing machine, this would be a good place to stay if working over here or on a long vacation as it had a apartment feel rather than a hotel. It even had a small balcony with fake grass.
Location of The Mercure Bangkok Asoke Residence
Location is great, it is a little away from main roads so it is quiet. Five minutes walk from restaurants bar shops and the BTS (metro) station is a easy stroll away.
A rooftop pool in Bangkok
The rooftop pool has to be the highlight, it is a great area to chill I had it all to myself for most of the day. It has a drinks and a ice cream fridge where you pick what you want and fill in a form and its added to your room bill.
It is crazy to think 14 floors below is a busy city as it is so peaceful.
Food at the Mercure Bangkok Asoke Residence
There isn’t an onsite restaurant but a book of takeaways you can ring to be delivered called food by phone. It has over 100 restaurants so there should be something for everyone.
I was a bit nervous about using it but it was so easy I went online and registered then put in an order, two minutes later they rang to confirm order and said it would be about 45 minutes.
In a way this is better than a onsite restaurant, if you are staying for a while as hotel restaurants can get repetitive.
But there are factors that let it down. For a start I got excited about English film channels, being away for 7 weeks with not much TV this is a big thing so when I got into bed turned TV on to watch a movie.
I was disappointed that yes it does have channels but the picture was so fuzzy and the sound was poor I just couldn’t watch anything. If I had been staying for longer I would have told the reception but I was only here for a few nights. Wi-Fi was also a bit slow at times.
The tours are extremely expensive nearly x3 of what previous hotel was charging, luckily I had done all my tours by this point. Even though they had a desk for tours I never saw anyone there and I even stood there for a while reading the brochure and no one came over so I think it caters more for the business person rather than a tourist.
I would recommend staying here even if its just for the rooftop pool. If you would like to book this hotel please use the search box below of the links of my favourite hotel booking sites. I use hotelscombined.com to find the best rate and then I will book directly with my favourite hotel booking agents. I use the following two depending on the best deal. I like these companies as they have easy to use websites, apps, customer service, loyalty discounts and the best prices. Bookings.com or Hotels.com
