Taster Food Festival the 10th and 11th of June
York Food Festival is holding a taster event this weekend and I highly recommend if you are in the area to go. I went to the main food festival last year and got to try so much delicious food and drink it was amazing. There was so much to choose from that I have to return in order to try some more!!!
If you want to see what I tried last year here is my article on the York Food Festival.
The market will feature artisan products from the North of England, including smoked venison, sausages, salamis and chorizo. Cheeses on offer include Yorkshire’s first halloumi. There will be great local beers and cider, gins and spirits, jams, chocolates, bread, cakes and brownies. On the Street Food side there are innovative stands with fresh mussels and Taiwanese pork pies alongside Thai, Greek, Jamaican dishes, a specialist Vegetarian Indian stand and great local burgers, fish and chips and pulled pork
The taster festival is in the city centre. St Sampson’s Square sees food (and cocktail) demonstrations, hands on workshops, speciality tastings and the Festival Bars. Meanwhile Parliament Street is the place to shop for quality regional produce, and enjoy innovative street food. For more information check out their website.
“This is just our smaller event – but it’s bigger than many places’ main attraction” said Festival Director Michael Hjort.
Demonstrators include Great British Menu’s Stephanie Moon, Masterchef Joel Arnold and appearances on behalf of Rafi Spice Box, The Botanist, The Grand Hotel, Melton’s and Mr P’s Curious Tavern. The Taster event also sees the launch of the Festival’s new Ale Trial that runs from June 10th until the end the main Food Festival in September.
