Planning a UK based holiday but still seeking that ‘away from home’ feeling? Well look no further as I have sought out some of the best home from homes to stay with a hot tub in the UK. Relax into the warm water with a glass of something cold and feel your troubles, aches and pains ease away. I love a hot tub I really wish I had one in my back garden as I would love to be chilling in one with a glass of prosecco. I didn’t realise there were so many cottages with hot tubs in the UK.
N8, The Warren
N8, The Warren is on the Llyn Peninsula in Abersoch is somewhat unassuming and then striking on the inside and perched right on the beach. Putting a whole new take on holiday park accommodation, the bi-fold doors and the perfectly placed, beachside sunken hot tub and day bed with views across the beach will win you over.
The Farthings in Ilfracombe, North Devon maximises its hillside position with floor to ceiling windows in the living areas and a spectacular glass-walled terrace where the hot hub takes prime position for views out to sea.
There are four bedrooms plus a self-contained annex sleeping two more in this spacious homes backing on to the Torrs – National Trust owned hills and cliffs. You’re half a mile downhill into the sprawling Victorian town now famous for Verity, Damien Hirst harbour-side sculpture – he lives in neighbouring Combe Martin.
The Fernery in Ilfracombe, is a striking contemporary and spacious home tucked in the lush valley at Higher Slade with sound eco-friendly credentials (solar heated water, PV generated electricity, rainwater recycling for the loos).
The hot tub is perched on the three tier elevated garden. High ceilings and rounded walls add to the space and the kids will love the decor and toys suited to their age group.
Hollytrees, in Kingsbridge, South Devon understands that the fashion and design fans are drawn to this part of the country. From the walk-in wardrobe to the industrial lighting, dramatic wood cladding and nods to country style, every room and detail has been considered.
The hot tub, on the south facing terrace, captures the sun all day long if you can’t bring yourselves to leave, but it’s also perfectly placed for watching the evening stars while chilling to your choice of tunes delivered by the Sonos sound system – just hook up your phone.
3 The Lookout
3 The Lookout is family friendly heaven in Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire. With hot tub, outdoor kitchen, indoor snug/den (complete with consoles and gaming chairs), telescopes and homely interiors, this rather understated property from the front opens a delight of comfort and relaxation for guest families.
Pwllyn near Cilmery in Mid Wales might have a shared garden but you don’t have to share the hot tub – there are two (one for each property sharing the garden). In fact, this is one of three properties that can be booked together to accommodate up to 17 guests (there are interconnecting doors that can be unlocked to make one big house.
Pwllyn is a beautifully converted 16th century barn, 500 yards from Cilmery village and its pub. Take a wildlife walk on the farm while you’re here.
Ghillies Cottage, Corwen, North East Wales a great place to submerge yourselves into a serene stay in Snowdonia with access to a private stretch of the River Dee.
Relax in this beautifully restored stone cottage with vast fireplace, private hot tub in the enclosed garden as well as access to a shared games room with table football and tennis for the competitive couples among you. Dogs welcome.
The Duchess, Bodiam, Rural Sussex is certainly unique, this former fairground owner’s cabin is perched, with elevated rural views, and discreetly cased in external cladding that also acts as an outdoor living area, provides an additional kitchen space as well as shelter for the hot tub.
Retaining the charm of its time internally, there’s a richness to the furnishings befitting the status of the residence’s origins too.
Bodiam Station is at the end of the driveway – one of the boarding points for the Kent & Sussex Railway. On site, there is a farmshop called The Hub for delicious breakfasts and a selection of local produce, plus a handy WiFi connection.
Cherry Stones in Paignton, South Devon has it all – you could be mistaken for thinking you’re on the Costas – a special extension houses the enormous hot tub, which is just a few steps away from some gym equipment. Open the patio doors wide and you’re an long arm’s length from a makeshift bar. This five bedroom home is a short wander from Goodrington South Sands Beach and makes for the perfect seaside party house in the south.
