Stay22 marks 10th anniversary with more than $2 billion in travel bookings

Stay22 has reached over $2 billion in travel bookings facilitated through its platform as the company marks its 10th anniversary with a rebrand and plans to expand beyond travel monetization.

The Montreal-based company, founded in 2016 by Hamed Al-Khabbaz and Andrew Lockhead, began by helping people attending events find nearby accommodation. Lockhead said of the company’s 10th anniversary:

“A decade in, we have grown up, but our core has not changed. We have the same hunger and the same instinct, now backed by ten years of trust built partner by partner.”

He continued:

“This is the moment to show who we have become: a company that helps creators and publishers turn the intent they inspire into income, wherever that intent lives.”

The travel affiliate company has since grown into a platform used by more than 10,000 active creators and publishers, whose content generates over 10,000 bookings daily.

Stay22 introduces new campaign line as it celebrates 10th anniversary

The anniversary brings a new visual identity and the campaign line:

“Another world is calling.”

Stay22 also presented the tagline “StayGolden,” with illustrations and photography drawn from its creator community. The updated branding is now featured on its website.

Its growth followed two major disruptions. The COVID-19 pandemic wiped out more than 90% of its revenue in March 2020, prompting a shift from event accommodation toward local travel and partnerships with bloggers and creators.

A year later, Airbnb ended its affiliate programme, leading Stay22 to broaden its accommodation inventory and develop automated monetization tools.

Now, the platform connects partners with more than 13 suppliers, including Booking.com, Expedia Group, and Trip.com. The latter recently joined, bringing more than 1.7 million properties into its inventory.

Stay22’s technology also appears on more than 8 billion web pages annually, with bookings spanning over 220 countries and regions.

The company is directing its next phase toward monetizing recommendations across additional industries.

A $122 million investment from Summit Partners is supporting international expansion, product development and entry into new sectors.

Stay22 is also preparing for changes in travel planning as AI tools become more widely used.

A 2026 report produced with Travel Massive found that 71% of surveyed creators already use AI tools.

The company expects trusted creator content to retain a role in influencing consumer decisions as discovery shifts toward AI-assisted recommendations.
