Philippines takes home Destination of the Year and three other TripZilla awards

The Philippines has been named Destination of the Year at the 2026 TripZilla Excellence Awards, adding another regional travel recognition for the country.

The Philippines also received awards for Best Dive Destination, Best Retirement Destination, and Sustainability Leader of the Year during the ceremony in November.

The country secured its second consecutive Best Retirement Destination title from TripZilla, a Singapore-based Southeast Asian online travel media outlet. On its official website, the outlet praised the country for what it delivers.

“The country offers a captivating mix of tropical escapes, vibrant cities and cultural experiences, each revealing a different side of its identity. From the warmth of local communities to the beauty of its landscapes, it is a destination where memorable journeys come in remarkably different forms.”

TripZilla went on:

“Yet what makes the Philippines truly memorable is the human connection that accompanies its natural and cultural attractions. With its diversity of experiences, strong sense of place and famously welcoming hospitality, the Philippines continues to capture the imagination of travellers seeking holidays that feel both exciting and deeply personal.”

TripZilla features the Philippines’ celebrated destinations

In the announcement, TripZilla also brought up several of the Philippines’ notable tourist spots, such as Vigan, Palawan, Siargao, and more, highlighting the kind of experience each destination offers.

“In Palawan, limestone cliffs rise above clear lagoons, creating extraordinary settings for island adventures. Boracay draws visitors with its celebrated white-sand beaches and lively seaside atmosphere, while Siargao offers a more relaxed island rhythm shaped by surf culture and coastal communities.”

The outlet continued:

“Beyond these familiar favourites, the Philippines rewards those who venture further. Travellers can wander through the historic streets of Vigan, discover the distinctive cuisine of Pampanga or explore the mountain landscapes and cultural traditions of Northern Luzon. Whether the itinerary centres on nature, heritage, food or adventure, there is always another experience waiting to be discovered.”

Now in its 12th edition, the TripZilla Excellence Awards recognize destinations, hotels, attractions and travel-related businesses across Asia.

TripZilla said winners in categories covering travel agencies, online travel services, attractions and hotels were selected through public voting.

Destination awards, meanwhile, were determined through an independent evaluation process.
