Traveling is one part, but preparing for a trip abroad is a whole different ballgame, as it requires multiple checkpoints, most importantly booking flight tickets and getting a visa for the country you’re visiting.
Getting a Visa before heading abroad can indeed be time-consuming and expensive. Several countries around the globe require visitors to go through a lengthy, time-consuming process with high fees and a waiting period of weeks before approval.
According to the October 2026 Henley Passport Index, Singapore has the strongest passport with a visa-free score of 193, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) shares second place with South Korea and Japan, with the same score of 188. This suggests citizens of these countries can access several international destinations without applying for a visa in advance.
European countries also dominate the rankings
Sweden ranks third, while Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Spain share fourth place.
People wondering about the United States’ standing on the list should know that America ranks 10th, tied with Iceland, with a score of 180. Austria, Greece, Malta, Portugal, and Switzerland share 5th place with a score of 185. Meanwhile, Australia, Canada, Czechia, Latvia, New Zealand, Slovakia, and Slovenia share seventh place.
