Gran hotel Peñiscola : Hotel Review

I stayed at the Gran Hotel in Peniscola during a recent tour of the Castellon region.

I only spent one night here but the hotel was lovely and I would definitely stay here again even if it is just for the view. The hotel has good reviews on Trip Advisor and I was really pleased with my stay.

My Room at the Gran Hotel Peniscola

I was in a twin room and it was quite large and airy would have been perfect for two friends sharing as there was plenty of space.

It had two queen size beds that were very comfortable obviously I only slept in one bed but I did try them both out as sometimes it is hard to decide which one to sleep in, I choose the one with the nearest plug socket for charging my phone.

Air conditioning which was welcomed. A nice balcony. TV, fridge, safe and plenty of storage space. It is definitely a great place to stay in Peniscola.

The pillows were the longest I have ever seen as they were like two pillows together but they were good quality and I slept really well. The hotel was really quiet I didn’t hear any noise from outside, the corridor or other rooms which is excellent.

The bathroom was very clean, the shower was a nice power and I could control the temperature perfectly.

It had lots of toiletries including a toothbrush, comb, shampoo, shower gel, tissues and body lotion.

Most of the rooms have sea views and listening to the waves crashing at night was one of the highlights of staying here. The view from the balcony was amazing, I could see the beach and sea, the pool and the town in the background at night it was so pretty all lite up.

Food at the Gran Hotel Peniscola

Breakfast was buffet style and it had lots of options. Most of the clientele are Spanish or French so they didn’t have what the English would consider bacon sausage and egg but what they did have was delicious.

They had chorizo, scrambled eggs, omelettes, cold meats, cheeses, cereal, breads and pastries, yoghurts and fruit, tea, coffee, orange juice and champagne. Unfortunately, we were going on a boat trip so I was only having a light breakfast.

Facilities at the Gran Hotel Peniscola

The outdoor swimming pool looked great with lots of beds, there is also an inside swimming pool and spa facilities. I would have loved to have tried one of their massages but only stayed here one night so I will have to return.

You can find more information about the facilities at Gran Hotel on their website.

The hotel is quite large with 437 rooms. We ate breakfast at 8.30 as soon as the restaurant opened and there was plenty of seats, it was not chaotic and had lots of options on offer. The only thing that sometimes did take some time was getting in a lift. They have rooms available for disabled travellers.

They have nightly entertainment in the May to October but the program was in Spanish so I am not quite sure what it involved. There is also a gym, self service laundry and parking (at a supplement)

The hotel is on the promenade which is a great place to stroll during the day or night. I felt quite safe in this area. You can check the latest prices in the search box below.

Would I stay at the Gran Hotel Peniscola again? Yes I would if the price was right it is a wonderful location to explore the area and the pool looks fin I would love to spend some time around it with a cocktail in the sun
