Visiting the North Pole at Avon Valley

Visit the North Pole at Avon Valley

I had a wonderful night visiting the North Pole at the Avon Valley Park in Keynsham.

It is not often I get to take part in things like this as I do not have any kids but I got to meet Father Christmas at an adults only night and I had such a great time.

The Avon Valley park invited me along to their Christmas event which is running now until 31st December. If you have kiddies it is a great experience and I would highly recommend. I just loved it!! but it seems very expensive. If you weigh up the gift, skating, spending time in the park then it might not seem as much but I remember paying a few £ to see Santa when I was a kid so it does sound expensive to me.

First we wrote our letter to Santa and then put it into the super duper instant message machine which meant he got my Christmas wish straight away, I cant tell you what I asked for otherwise he might not be able to bring it but we shall see on Christmas day if he got my letter or not. After we sent our letter we got a lolly pop never too old for a candystick or lolly.

As we were adults only and to make it a little bit more mature we were given some mulled wine, hot minced pies and hot chocolate to warm us up after we had been skating.

Now I am the most accident prone person when it comes to skating so I was really nervous. The rink is a one of its kind in the UK called Glice which is what the Olympians use to practice figure staking and hockey on during summer periods. It means if you do happen to fall over there is no chance of wet bottoms, nothing worse than a wet bottom. I found it slightly different to normal ice skating there seemed to be more friction so I didn’t glide like a skater more wiggled but it was lots of fun and I never fell over. I blame the kid passing me putting me off at the end!!!

After decorating our very own gingerbread men where mine actually looked more like an alien, it was the highlight of the night to go and meet santa.

Evergreen the Elf took us on her submarine which moved slightly to the north pole where we met some more elves in the workshop before going in to meet Santa. We had our photos taken and told him what we would like for Christmas and some people got presents but I must have been naughty as I didn’t get a present so I will have to be on my best behaviour now until Christmas so he leaves something under my tree.

This is a great thing to do with your kids if you would like more information please check out the Avon Valley Park website but you will have to be quick as they are nearly fully booked for 2017.

A Tea Party With Father Christmas

Join in the fun with the elves and your friends at our Christmas Tea Party!

This hour long session will see elves entertaining your children as they experience a tea party with Father Christmas. Platters of sandwiches, cakes, squash and more will be presented by our energetic elves before Father Christmas comes to visit.

Once the big man himself arrives he will tell the children a story and afterwards there will be the opportunity for them to tell him why they should be on his nice list! Each child will then have the opportunity to have a photo with Father Christmas, where they will also be presented with a certificate and balloon to show they have met the real Father Christmas.

Night Time Glice Disco

Between 6.30pm – 9pm on selected evenings we will be running an exclusive Glice® Disco Party for older children and families to skate at night on our rink. Limited to 45 people per 1hr slot so there is plenty of room for freestyling fun! Non-skating guests are FREE and can enjoy a hot chocolate/mulled wine or a grab a bite to eat in our food outlet in our festive themed areas.
