Singapore Airlines to introduce massive cabin upgrade with $1.6 billion investment

Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced on Friday, November 6, an investment of more than S$2 billion, equivalent to about $1.6 billion. According to Investing.com, this is linked to upgrading its cabin to enhance the passenger experience and represents the flagship carrier’s largest cabin investment program to date. The redesign will cover four travel classes: First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class. Additionally, the new cabin products will be introduced from the second half of 2027 on 41 Airbus A350-900 long-haul and ultra-long-range (ULR) aircraft, as well as the airline’s incoming Boeing 777-9 fleet. The S$2 billion-plus program will cover 72 wide-body aircraft in the airline’s 153-strong fleet, and will take seven years to complete. The cabin upgrade comes as airlines worldwide invest billions of dollars in premium facilities for passengers. In addition, Singapore Airlines, along with airlines such as Emirates, Lufthansa, Delta Air Lines, British Airways and Air India, have recently announced significant upgrades.
