Universal Orlando Resort is gearing up to expand its newest theme park with another thrilling attraction, drawing more visitors planning a Florida getaway. Universal Epic Universe, which debuted last year and has received widespread attention, is set to add a third ride to its spooky Dark Universe section, per PEOPLE.
Dark Universe takes visitors into the world of classic Universal Monsters, featuring iconic characters such as Frankenstein’s Monster and The Invisible Man. The park already has two such attractions, but Universal has announced plans for a brand-new indoor roller coaster that will bring another thrilling experience to the streets of Darkmoor.
According to Universal, the new ride will have an original storyline inspired by the Universal Monsters franchise. However, the company has not yet revealed more details about its theme, ride features, or expected debut date.
The coaster will be located next to the famous Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment. Construction of the new coaster has already begun; the announcement has created hype among theme-park fans as they celebrate another addition to the Dark Universe.
Universal Orlando has bigger plans for 2027
The theme park has been working on several developments planned for late 2026 and 2027. It plans to introduce a reimagined Universal Horror Make-up show with Blumhouse later this year, per Fox 35 Orlando. This will add another horror-themed experience to the site.
Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift, a high-speed outdoor rollercoaster, will replace the old Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. The attraction features a 170-foot-tall vertical spike and 360-degree drifting experiences, offering visitors major thrills.
Beyond the rides, Universal is also expanding its entertainment and dining options. A brand new restaurant is planned for the Jurassic Park section of Islands of Adventure, and Luke Combs’ Category 10 will bring live music and entertainment to the famous Universal CityWalk district.
